Responsibilities:

  1. Actively involved in the planning and implementation of specialty programs, including daily programming, special events, and theme days designed to provide progressive learning for campers. 
  2. Create an environment that will support individual participant’s needs, allowing them to develop skills, self-esteem, and wellness alongside their peers. 
  3. Ensure the safety & wellbeing of all campers during camp hours through detailed attendance tracking, emergency response and site inspections. This includes following proper sign in/out procedures. 
  4. Source appropriate materials to use in area of specialty with guidance from supervisory staff. 
  5. Maintain supply and equipment inventory to effectively operate quality programming. 
  6. Assist in the organization of Parent Days/Nights/Lunches and attendance at these functions accordingly. 
  7. Maintain ongoing and effective communication with participants, patrons, the public, and City staff.  
  8. Maintain a professional attitude that includes being punctual, constantly attentive and engaged.  
  9. Train staff in area of specialty. Specialty areas include the following:
    - Swim: Aquatic Swim Lesson 
  10. Lead camper groups when necessary, including active supervision during lunch/swim rotations/before & after care. 
  11. Foster in all campers the 5 Principles of Healthy Child Development as outlined by High Five. 
  12. When required assume the responsibilities of Camp Counsellor in the delivery of programs.  
  13. Carry out any other duties as requested by Senior Camp Staff. 

Qualifications and requirements

1.    Demonstrated ability in area of specialty preferred.
2.    Education is area of specialty is an asset.
3.    Current holder of Standard First Aid/CPR-C
4.    Current Lifesaving Swim Instructors
5.    Current National Lifeguard
6.    Willing to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Screening
7.    High Five – Principles of Healthy Child Development (provided upon hire)
8.    Full Attendance at Pre-Camp Training (Monday to Friday, full days the last week of June)
9.    For Aquatics: Lifesaving Society Swim & Lifesaving Instructors & National Lifeguard are mandatory
