Explore Vaughan’s great outdoors this winter
There’s no better way to enjoy winter than by staying active all season long! So, lace up your skates, put on your hiking boots or grab your skis, because there is so much to see and do in Vaughan this season.
Outdoor skating rinks
Enjoy the crisp winter air and skate for free at one of the City of Vaughan’s outdoor ice rinks:
- Carrville Community Centre skating trail (655 Thomas Cook Ave.)
- Chancellor Community Centre (350 Ansley Grove Rd.)
- Cortellucci Square skating trail (300 Maplecrete Rd.)
- Dufferin Clark Community Centre (1441 Clark Ave. W.)
Father E. Bulfon Community Centre (8141 Martin Grove Rd.)
- Garnet A. Williams Community Centre (501 Clark Ave W.)
- Secord Park (65 Secord Ave.)
- Sports Village skating trail (2600 Rutherford Rd.)
- Vellore Village Community Centre (1 Villa Royale Ave.)
Outdoor rinks are open daily from December to March, weather permitting. Rinks are unsupervised unless noted in the supervised hours schedule at vaughan.ca/skate. Sticks and pucks are not permitted during supervised times.
Most rinks are open daily until 11 p.m., except at Father E. Bulfon Community Centre, which closes at 10:30 p.m. Weekly maintenance closures are as follows:
- Wednesdays, 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.: Vellore Village Community Centre and the skating trail at Cortellucci Square
- Wednesdays, 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.: Chancellor, Dufferin Clark and Father E. Bulfon community centres
- Thursdays, 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.: Garnet A. Williams Community Centre and the skating trail at Carrville Community Centre

Take a stroll along a trail or neighbourhood walk
Lace up your walking shoes and head out on an outdoor adventure on one of the 12 Great Walks of Vaughan. There’s a trail for all ages, abilities and comfort levels. Visit vaughan.ca/GreatWalks for more information and maps. You can also explore the Bartley Smith Greenway Trail, William Granger Greenway (Humber Trail), and Nashville Conservation Reserve trail. Learn more at vaughan.ca/trails.
Skiing, snowboarding and tobogganing
Hit the slopes this winter! People of all ages and abilities can sign up for skiing or snowboarding lessons at Uplands Golf and Ski Club. Seasonal and daily passes are available for purchase online, and equipment is available for rent. Visit golfnorth.ca/uplands for program schedules, fees and safety guidelines. As it is privately operated, residents are required to pay a fee to access the amenities.
Snowshoe season begins on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2026, and runs until the end of March Break. Rentals are available at Carrville Community Centre, Al Palladini Community Centre, Vellore Village Community Centre, Garnet A. Williams Community Centre, Maple Community Centre and North Thornhill Community Centre. Snowshoes can be picked up on Thursdays and returned on Mondays at Customer Service desks; if Monday is a statutory holiday, returns are due on Tuesday.
