Local Off-Leash Dog Area Strategy
The City of Vaughan recognizes the value local off-leash dog areas bring to dogs and their families. In June 2021, Council endorsed the Local Off-Leash Dog Area Strategy (PDF), which identified a need to find spaces for pets to safely roam free.
A temporary off-leash dog park is coming to NMRP
North Maple Regional Park (NMRP), located at 11085 Keele St., has become a year-round destination for residents across the city. As planning for the park continues, the City of Vaughan is evaluating options for a temporary, seasonal off-leash dog area where dogs can run free, make new furry friends and enjoy the outdoors, and you can help shape it!
Have your say by taking an online survey until Monday, April 6 or by attending a pop-up at Maple Community Centre (10190 Keele St.) on Wednesday, March 18 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. to speak directly to the project team.
Your input will help guide the location of the off-leash dog park and what it will look like.

Keep off-leash areas safe
All off-leash dog areas in Vaughan are secured, fenced-in spaces where dogs and their families can get exercise outdoors, socialize and roam free – safely. Each of the City’s off-leash areas has a locked gate and is accessible only to those who want to enter.
This fenced area is always separated from playgrounds and other park facilities. These spaces enable dogs, their families and park visitors to safely co-exist and enjoy all that Vaughan’s outdoor amenities have to offer.
