Elections
Elections for municipal governments and school boards in Ontario are held every four years on the fourth Monday of October.
The next election will take place on Monday, Oct. 26.
CANDIDATE INFORMATION SESSION:
Those interested in running in this year’s municipal election for the City of Vaughan or Township of King, are invited to attend a Candidate Information Session. Here are the details:
When: Wednesday, April 15 at 7 p.m.
Where: Vaughan City Hall (2141 Major Mackenzie Dr.)
During the session, attendees will learn more about:
- the election process
- eligibility requirements for candidates seeking municipal or school board office
- the roles and responsibilities of candidates
- financial obligations and reporting requirements
While the election is still several months away, it’s never too early to check whether or not you’re on the voters’ list by visiting registertovoteon.ca.
Eligible voters for municipal elections must be:
- a Canadian citizen and at least 18 years old; and
- a resident of the municipality; OR
- a non-resident who owns or rents property in the municipality; OR
- the spouse of an owner or tenant of property in the municipality.
