About the by-law

City of Vaughan parking regulations help ensure the safety of streets and walkways, and support effective traffic flow. The Parking By-law (PDF) regulates a number of parking violations in the city.

Key By-law Provisions

  • On-street parking is allowed for up to three hours without a permit between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. – unless otherwise signed or prohibited by the Parking By-law
  • On-street parking is not allowed between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m., unless the vehicle has a valid permit for that date, time and location.
  • Valid accessible parking permits allow people to park in accessible spaces, but do not provide exemptions from other parking violations, such as fire routes.
    • Permits must be valid on the date of parking and need to be displayed properly with the front of the permit clearly visible (face-up on the dashboard or attached to a turned-down sun visor).
  • During snow events (minimum five centimetres of snowfall), vehicles should be parked on driveways to help plows and salt trucks effectively remove snow from roads. Failure to do so may result in a ticket and/or towing at the owner's expense.

For complete regulations, please see the Parking By-law (PDF).
