School crossing guards are an important part of the city of Vaughan community. These dedicated individuals work every school day to assist children walking across intersections throughout Vaughan. The City is currently hiring crossing guards for the 2022/23 school year.
Being a school crossing guard is a rewarding occupation and also offers a flexible work schedule. A typical day for a crossing guard includes the following:
With more than 114 crosswalk locations throughout Vaughan, both permanent and standby crossing guards are needed to service all locations. The City recruits, trains and hires crossing guards, conducts pedestrian studies, selects crosswalk locations and installs appropriate signage and pavement markings.
