What is the status of the proposal?
On March 19, 2019, Vaughan Council voted unanimously to not proceed with the Sports Village proposal. Read the news release for more information.

Why did the City organize a community meeting?
Vaughan Council directed staff to consult with citizens and impacted stakeholders to collect feedback on the Sports Village proposal. The public's views and opinions on this matter are important, and the City provided different avenues to be heard.

How could I have had a say about the proposal?
During the public engagement process, two community meetings were held on Jan. 20 and Feb. 17. Comments were also collected through Access Vaughan at 905-832-2281 and through email at sportsvillage@vaughan.ca. A short online survey was also open until Feb. 22.

What’s contained in the proposal?
The proposal, which was submitted by current Sports Village operator Mentana Group of Companies, has three main components:
  1. A site concept master plan for Berkeley Academy and an entertainment centre
  2. An offer to acquire from the City the land on which the Sports Village operates
  3. An offer to amend the business terms of the current agreement with the City
Details about the proposal can be found here.
