    The purpose of the Centre Street Urban Design Guidelines and Streetscape Plan Study is to provide an urban design framework and detailed Urban Design Guidelines for Centre Street from Bathurst Street to just west of Dufferin Street, and to prepare a Streetscape Plan and Phasing/ Implementation Plan for the same area.

    An overwhelming majority of residents feel the quality of life in the City of Vaughan is good, and that they are receiving good value for their tax dollars. Those are just two of the findings from a recent Ipsos Reid Citizen Survey administered in the City of Vaughan.

  • City of Vaughan Official Plan 2010
    The City of Vaughan undertook an ambitious three-year project to create a new Official Plan as part of the City's integrated Growth Management Strategy. On September 7, 2010, Council adopted a new Official Plan. It addresses all elements of effective, sustainable and successful city-building, while managing projected growth to 2031.

    The purpose of the Older Adult Recreation Strategy as stated in the "Terms of Reference" for the research was to recommend a set of strategies to guide the planning and provision of municipal recreation services to the older adult age group.

  • Greening Vaughan
    Greening Vaughan was the City’s multi-phased waste management strategy that focused on enhancing and/or introducing opportunities and programs to divert waste from landfill. The overall goal of this program was to divert 60% of Vaughan’s waste from landfill by 2008. Although this phased program ended in 2007, the City continues to explore ways to further increase its waste diversion efforts.
  • Humber Bridge Trail Class Environmental Assessment Study
    The City of Vaughan has completed a Class Environmental Assessment (EA) Study to determine the optimal solution for the Humber Bridge Trail bowstring arch bridge over the Humber River. The purpose of this notice is to inform you that the Class EA report and its findings are available for public viewing and comment.
  • Kleinburg Economic Development Strategy
    The objective of the Kleinburg Economic Development Strategy is to create a vision and guidelines for the long-term economic revitalization of the Kleinburg downtown and commercial core area.
  • Kleinburg Parking Strategy
    The City of Vaughan is working to develop a parking management strategy that will help address parking needs in the Kleinburg Village. Kleinburg is one of Vaughan’s premier commercial neighbourhoods with a charming residential community at its core and a rich and varied history. It is also a destination for thousands of visitors. Limited public parking is recognized as a significant challenge.

  • Maple/GO Station Secondary Plan
    The Maple GO Station Secondary Plan has been submitted to permit the development of the lands in accordance with the “Mid-Rise Mixed-Use” designation of the Vaughan Official Plan 2010. The “Mid-Rise Mixed-Use” designation permits both commercial and residential uses. Once the peer review process is complete, the Secondary Plan will form the basis for the implementing Draft Plan of Subdivision and Zoning By-law.
  • Measuring Sustainability Performance of New Development in Brampton, Richmond Hill and Vaughan
    The main purpose of implementing a sustainable development framework in the development review process is to reduce the overall ecological footprint of new developments and redevelopment projects.

    The Momentum Report highlights the achievements and milestones the City has made during this term of council. The report also incorporates an overview of municipal finances.
  • Natural Heritage Network Study
    The study will assess the role of the existing Natural Heritage Network (NHN) in maintaining elements of biodiversity and ecological functions for the long term, consistent with Provincial Policy Statement (PPS) 2.1.2, and propose additional NHN areas to meet biodiversity and ecosystem function targets.

    The City of Vaughan recognizes the value off-leash dog parks bring to dogs and their families. To ensure the City clearly understands and responds to the needs of residents with pets, a review of local off-leash dog areas throughout Vaughan is being undertaken.

  • Promenade Centre Secondary Plan
    The City has started developing a secondary plan study for the Promenade Mall and surrounding area – known as the Promenade Centre. The study will establish a vision, key principles and a complete land-use plan to guide the future evolution and development.
  • Secondary Suites Policy Study and Task Force
    In February 2010, Council directed City staff to undertake a Secondary Suites policy study and to set up a Task Force. The Province has passed legislation, Bill 140, to amend the Planning Act, requiring that official plans contain policies that authorize the use of a second residential unit in detached, semi or row houses and that local municipalities pass zoning by-laws to give effect to these policies. The study and Task Force will be necessary to develop detailed policies on this issue.

    The purpose of the Steeles West Urban Design and Streetscape Plan is to prepare an Urban Design Framework, Urban Design Guidelines, a Streetscape Plan and a Phasing/ Implementation Plan for the Steeles West Secondary Plan area located within the City of Vaughan.

    ustainable Transportation refers to any means of transportation that is ‘green’ and has low impact on the environment. Sustainable transportation is also about balancing our current and future needs. Examples of sustainable transportation include walking, cycling, transit, carpooling, car sharing, and green vehicles.

  • Transportation Demand Management
    Transportation Demand Management, known more simply as TDM, consists of specialized policies, targeted programs, innovative mobility services, and products that encourage people to use sustainable modes of transportation, rather than driving alone, or make fewer trips by car. It is policy of Vaughan Council to encourage and support city-wide and local TDM programs.

  • Vaughan Metropolitan Centre
    The Vaughan Metropolitan Centre is a planned downtown development with business offices, residences, entertainment and cultural facilities, and pedestrian shopping areas. With approximately 179 hectares of development opportunities, it is the largest and most ambitious project in the City's history.
  • Vaughan Mills Centre Secondary Plan
    The Vaughan Mills Centre Secondary Plan will provide a planning framework for an important intensification area in the City of Vaughan. Vaughan Mills Centre is subject to development applications that propose primarily mixed use developments with heights and densities generally higher than what is provided for along Primary Intensification Corridors.
  • Vaughan Transportation Plan
    The new plan will take a 20-year outlook to identify and highlight projects that will help meet transportation needs as Vaughan grows. This will include innovative, accessible and functional options that will guide change and support transit investments. To achieve this vision, the study is seeking input from residents, businesses and experts, who, together, will develop the future of transportation in Vaughan.
  • Vaughan Yonge-Steeles Corridor Working Group
    On Dec. 10, 2013, Councillor Alan Shefman presented a Members Resolution (PDF) to Vaughan Council, reaffirming Council’s strong support for the subway extension. The Members Resolution was adopted without amendment. From this, a working group was created. Led by Councillor Shefman, the City’s Vaughan Yonge-Steeles Corridor Working Group meets monthly to develop a strategy to secure funding needed to complete the subway, as well as plan for the future of the corridor to help continue to create a bright, vibrant, accessible and functional area for citizens to work, live, play and retire.

  • Weston Downs Traffic Study
    A Comprehensive Traffic Study (Study) within the Weston Downs community to investigate traffic issues present in the area and to identify, evaluate and recommend a strategy to address concerns expressed by residents and the traffic issues identified in the Study.
  • Weston Road and Highway 7 Secondary Plan
    The Secondary Plan will provide a master plan for a critical intensification area in the City of Vaughan. Weston Road and Highway 7 is subject to existing development applications that propose mixed uses with heights and densities generally higher than is provided for in the nearby neighbourhood precincts of the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre.
