New online resources and campaign to support community wellness
The City of Vaughan continues to implement new measures and resources to support the well-being of the community. Together Vaughan is a new initiative to support community wellness and bring people together virtually by spreading positivity during COVID-19.
Through a collaboration with the City’s Recreation Services department and Vaughan Public Libraries, residents are encouraged to visit

for a curated list of resources available to help enrich the body, mind and soul. This webpage is designed to keep people engaged and active during the global pandemic.
To help spread the message of positivity, everyone is encouraged to share inspiring stories and acts of kindness they have experienced or witnessed during COVID-19 on social media using the hashtag
#TogetherVaughan

Recreation Services
Recreation Services also has a

which features virtual recreation resources for all ages, abilities and areas of interest. Popular programming includes:
Vaughan Playschool educational worksheets for children ages three to five in the following subject areas: reading and writing, math and science.
Easy-to-follow at-home workouts from Vaughan Fitness instructors, featured on Recreation Services’

. Video exercises have been modified to do inside the home or out in the backyard, and include the following classes: yoga, Zumba, Pilates, belly dancing, boot camp, and barre/chair exercises. Instructors are also providing stretching and nutrition tips, along with healthy-eating recipes.
Learning first aid basics from certified Vaughan lifeguards.
Singing songs with Vaughan Playschool instructors.
Acting, dancing and singing with the City Playhouse Theatre crew.
Other fun activities, such as colouring, crafting and cooking.

Vaughan Public Libraries (VPL)
While all branches remain closed, VPL is offering a fully digital public library service to engage and educate residents of all ages.
The new
web hub
features a variety of free online resources, including:
eBooks and audiobooks – such as novels, animated picture books, non-fiction and graphic novels – available through platforms like Hoopla, Overdrive and Tumblebooks.
Films and television programs available for instant streaming or temporary download through Hoopla and Kanopy.
Music streaming services for over 150,000 albums of classical, opera, jazz and world music with Naxos Music Library.
Online learning courses like
Lynda.com
– teaching technology, software development, business skills, project management and video editing – and the Transparent Language app to learn a new language.
Digital databases, such as Creativebug, to support business research, academic projects or independent learning.
All online services can be accessed with a VPL library card. Obtain a temporary digital card for free by visiting

and clicking on ‘Apply Now.’ As well, VPL has launched

, a virtual service supported by more than 20 staff who are able to help with customer inquiries and offer reading and viewing suggestions by phone, email and social media.
