Patrons are reminded to stay home if they are sick
Following the Province’s
announcement
that Ontario will be cautiously and gradually removing additional COVID-19 public health measures, the City of Vaughan no longer requires masks to be worn by patrons at City facilities as of today, Monday, March 21. This includes community centres and most Vaughan Public Libraries
branches.
Pleas
e be advised the Mackenzie Health Vaughan Library will still require the use of masks and proof of vaccination as the branch is situated in Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital. This aligns with Provincial directives for institutions such as medical centres to keep these measures intact.
Most City of Vaughan staff will no longer be required to wear a mask in the workplace effective Monday, March 21. As a result, swim lessons will return to their pre-pandemic formats – swim instructors will teach in the water and parents/guardians will no longer need to participate in the water for early development swim levels, including Preschool 1-5 and Swimmer 1-3, for both group and private/semi-private lessons. Those registered in spring swimming courses, beginning on Saturday, March 26, will be emailed with this updated information.
As a reminder, pre-registration is not required when visiting City fitness centres, but a membership key tag is required to gain access to the fitness centre. Membership key tags also allow access to the pool, gym, games room, arena and bocce court for individuals with an annual recreation membership or multi-visit pass. To obtain a fitness or recreation membership key tag, visit customer service. Pre-registration and pre-payment are available for convenience for recreational drop-in activities, including swimming, aquafitness, skating, sports and fitness classes, and can be done at

.
As of October 2021, all Vaughan community centres are
cashless facilities
– but there are many payment options available for activities and programming, including by debit, credit, cheque, phone or online via the Recreation Services client account. Select memberships and multi-visit passes to recreational drop-in activities can also be purchased online at

Visitors are encouraged to self-screen for symptoms prior to entering any City building. Signage on the main doors outlines COVID-19 symptoms and asks the public not to enter if they are symptomatic. Patrons should remain vigilant and stay home if they are sick. Individuals who would like to continue wearing a mask are welcome to do so.
Those who feel unwell and believe they have symptoms related to COVID-19 should contact York Region Public Health at 1-800-361-5653 or Telehealth Ontario at 1-866-797-0000. For additional information and resources on the virus, visit York Region's website at
