S
tarting Friday, Nov. 5, the City of Vaughan is reopening Al Palladini Community Centre’s fitn
ess centre and one squash court following recent flooding in the facility. Restoration work continues as rubber and wood floors still require replacement. This comes after the partial reopening of the community centre’s indoor skating rink and swimming pool on Saturday, Oct. 2.
Residents who placed a hold on their memberships during the temporary facility closure can email
RecCSD@vaughan.ca
for assistance in reactivating them. For information about Vaughan Fitness centres and fitness classes, visit

Capacity increases
On Oct. 25, Ontario lifted capacity limits in the vast majority of settings where proof of vaccination is required, such as restaurants, bars and other food or drink establishments; indoor areas of sports and recreational facilities such as gyms and where personal physical fitness trainers provide instruction; casinos, bingo halls and other gaming establishments; and indoor meeting and event spaces. Limits were also lifted in certain outdoor settings.
What does this mean for Vaughan’s community centre users?
This direction from the Provincial government means the City is able to allow more patrons to enter its recreational facilities and can remove social distancing and time restriction requirements. While these changes are being operationalized – including hiring additional staff to support this increased usage – please remember that pre-registration is still required at this time for all community centre activities, including recreational and length swims, aquafitness classes, recreational sports, skating and shinny hockey and fitness classes. W
hile contact tracing remains a requirement, pre-registration for a workout time block is encouraged, however, there is no time limitation on how long members can workout.
