Responsibilities:

  1. Implements a comprehensive general interest or specialty program. Program Areas for this position include:
    - Learn to skate pre-school, children.
    - Pre-school school readiness French and Italian.
    - Pre-school and children's ice hockey
    - Vaughan Sports: basketball, soccer, volleyball
    - Adult Volleyball League
    - Gymnastics
  2. Acts as the Lead Hand for a group program staff.
  3. Develops a unified staff team through active direction, supervision and evaluation.
  4. Responsible for implementing lesson plans for each class. 
  5. Instruction is progressive in nature (becomes more complex and/or builds on skills/concepts learned previously).
  6. Ensures the supervision, safety & wellbeing of participants.
  7. Ensures set-up and take down of equipment before and after the program.
  8. Documents and communicates any incident/accidents that occur to the Community Centre Lead.
  9. Excellent customer services skills with the ability to remain calm during difficult situations and resolve conflicts tactfully.
  10. Manages difficult situations and maintains open communication with participants and parents/guardians. 

Qualifications and requirements

1.       Current holder of Standard First Aid/CPR-C

2.       Vulnerable Sector Screening

3.       Significant Experience (3-5 years working in relevant program area)
