Advance Vote (online): Thursday, Oct. 6 to Thursday, Oct. 20. 
Voting Day (in person): Monday, Oct. 24, 2022. 

To be eligible to vote in the next Municipal Election, you must be:

  • a Canadian citizen.
  • at least 18 years of age or older.
  • a resident of the city of Vaughan, or an owner or tenant of property in the city of Vaughan, or the spouse of an owner or tenant of property in the city of Vaughan.
  • not prohibited from voting under Section 17, subsection (3) of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, or otherwise by law.
Are you on the Voters' List?

The Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) is responsible for collecting information from eligible Ontario voters for the 2022 Municipal Election in October.

Visit voterlookup.ca to confirm that you are on the Voters' List and that your information on file is accurate and up to date. As well, if you have recently moved, changed your name or turned 18 years old, check to make sure you are on the list and your information is correct.

Once you ensure you are on the list and your information is correct, a unique Personal Identification Number (PIN) will be generated and sent to you by mail in September. This PIN will allow you to vote online during the advance voting period, which runs from Thursday, Oct. 6 until Thursday, Oct. 20. In-person voting will take place on Monday, Oct. 24.

Voters at the 2022 Municipal Election will have the opportunity to elect candidates for offices on Vaughan Council and the local school board. A complete list of offices being contested are available below:

Contribution Rebate Program 

Applications for the City of Vaughan's Contribution Rebate Program for the 2022 Municipal Election will be accepted up to 90 days after the candidate's filing deadline of Friday, March 31, 2023. Rebate cheques will be prepared and mailed to eligible contributors at the close of the rebate application period (June 2023).

To be eligible for a contribution rebate you must:

  • be an eligible elector in the city of Vaughan.
  • be a resident of the city of Vaughan.
  • not be the candidate, or the spouse or relative of the candidate, including siblings, grandparents, parents, children and grandchildren.

Contributions to candidates who have not opted into the Contribution Rebate Program are not eligible for a rebate. Contributions to School Board Trustee candidates are also not eligible for a rebate.

The Contribution Rebate is calculated using the following criteria:

  • The rebate is issued for 75 per cent of the total value of contributions made to candidates.
  • The minimum contribution necessary to qualify for a rebate is $50.
  • The maximum value of the rebate issued to a contributor, regardless of the number and value of contributions to one or more candidates, is $150.

Please note that a rebate cannot be issued for cash contributions to candidates.
