The Environmental Sustainability team within the Policy Planning and Special Programs department is responsible for championing  Green Directions Vaughan, the City's community sustainability plan, to encourage City leadership in environmental sustainability.

Environmental Sustainability works in partnership with internal and external stakeholders to achieve a green, sustainable and low carbon City that supports vibrant communities and a strong economy.  This is achieved through support for residents and businesses resulting in increased awareness and local action on key environmental issues such as climate change, natural heritage, green infrastructure, urban agriculture and energy efficiency projects.
