VMC Parks and Wayfinding Master Plan

The City of Vaughan is creating a vibrant city centre for people to live, work and play within its downtown core the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre (VMC).

The City is undertaking the VMC Parks and Wayfinding Master Plan to guide the timely development of parks and open space in the VMC and create a world-class public realm. The plan includes creating a signage strategy to make it easier to navigate this area.

VMC Signage Pilot

A VMC Signage Pilot program was developed and includes the design and installation of five signs located in the central core of the VMC. The signs feature visual cues such as maps, directions, colours and various symbols. The pilot signage aims to help simplify routes, and guide individuals walking or cycling in the VMC and make it easy to locate key destinations and institutions.

Have you seen these signs? Are they effective? Do you think they make navigating the downtown core easier? We want to hear from you!

Advisory Group

We are assembling a team to help evaluate the new signs throughout the VMC. Four people will be recruited to join our informal User Experience Advisory Group, and physically assess the functionality, design, accessibility, durability and overall effectiveness of the five new signs. We are looking for someone who lives in the VMC, someone who works in the VMC, someone who travels through the VMC and someone who champions accessibility.

Online survey

An online survey is available until Monday, Sept. 30. It will take six minutes to complete. Participate to have your say on the durability and effectiveness of these new signs.
