Director of Internal Audit
The City of Vaughan is looking for someone to lead and enhance its Internal Audit function. Aligned with the City’s overall goals and objectives, you will bring a big picture perspective to audit and risk management. Reporting to Council, and administratively to the City Manager, you will be guided by the Audit Charter in providing an independent, objective and professional approach to risk management, including compliance. You will assess risk management procedures, systems integrity and management controls and provide recommendations that strike a balance with the efficiency and effectiveness of operations. Provide leadership to your audit team and external auditors in the execution of internal audit, program and risk assessment. Ensure that the flow of information is timely and accurate.
In addition to your university degree and professional accounting designation, you have at least eight years of management experience in an audit or internal audit setting. An accomplished facilitator, negotiator and administrator, you understand the municipal government environment and are ready to excel in a jurisdiction that values both innovation and cross-functional teamwork.

Executive Director
The City of Vaughan is looking for someone to provide executive level support to the City Manager by monitoring and ensuring that priority initiatives move forward along with leading the external facing Economic Development and Communications departments. Executive level support shall be provided by conducting research, analysis, recommending strategies and actions and managing special projects. This role is one of integrating and managing the demands on the City Manager, ensuring that the flow of information to the City Manager is timely and accurate and monitoring progress on key initiatives.

Qualifications and experience:
- Community College Graduate with Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation from Purchasing Management Association of Canada (PMAC) and/or a Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB) through National Institute of Governmental Purchasing (NIGP).
- Minimum of four (4) years purchasing related experience and continually expanding responsibility in a Broader Public Sector environment preferred.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, interpersonal, and oral/written communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills and working knowledge of various software applications and computerized procurement systems (PeopleSoft).
- Valid Class G Driver’s License in good standing.

Qualifications and experience:
Community College Diploma in Business Administration, Marketing, Customer Service or suitable equivalent. Minimum of two years experience in customer service within a call centre or other related front line customer service experience. Demonstrated customer service skills with the ability to understand and respond in a timely manner to customer needs using problem solving skills, tact and diplomacy. Ability to communicate in a second language is an asset. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written with a demonstrated commitment to customer satisfaction. Must be flexible in work schedules and available to work overtime and rotating shifts as required. Must have or acquire a sound knowledge of the City of Vaughan operations, policies and procedures applicable to work performed. Willingness to obtain and upgrade customer service skills through training provided by the Department.
Proven record in tracking customer issues, presenting data and making recommendations, including analyzing problems and formulate solutions involving appropriate resources and communicate effectively. Proven ability to work independently and in a team environment as well being flexible and adaptable to changing needs of the business unit and the City. Strong time management and organizational skills. Ability to work in a fast paced environment. Ability to work in a computerized environment and proficiency utilizing personal computers and various software packages including word processing, email, database and spreadsheet applications. Proven keyboarding and data input skills. Ability to learn call tracking software and corporate database. Record of satisfactory attendance and performance, as determined by referring to attendance and performance concerns obtained in the employee’s human resources file.

for an experienced and motivated individual
SENIOR PLANS EXAMINER (ZONING)
FILE # 12-944-SS
Responsible for:
Examining plans and other documents submitted for building permits to ensure compliance with zoning by-laws, agreements and other applicable law. Provides interpretation, information and recommendations on zoning by-laws, sign by-laws, site plan agreements, subdivision agreements and other applicable law to the public, legal profession, development community, utility companies, Council and staff. Co-ordinates/monitors workflow of the Plans Examiner (Zoning) positions; oversees and organizes work processes. Provides clearance for licensing matters, on behalf of the department. Represents the Building Standards Department at Committee of Adjustment meetings, Ontario Municipal Board meetings and in court proceedings as required.
Qualifications and experience:
Community College Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Architectural or Planning Technology or suitable equivalent. Certified Technologist in the Ontario Association of Certified Technologists and Technicians (OACETT) or the Association of Architectural Technologists of Ontario, and qualified to the requirements of the Ontario Building Code Act. Minimum of five (5) years related municipal experience including two (2) years co-ordinating the work of others. Working knowledge of municipal By-law processes, specifically zoning by-laws, applicable statutes and regulations including the Ontario Building Code. Excellent analytical, communication, report writing and problem solving skills along with the ability to deal effectively, objectively and courteously with the public. Proficient keyboarding, records management skills, and a thorough working knowledge of database and word processing software applications. Hold a valid Class ‘G’ drivers license and provide a motor vehicle for use on City business when required. Available to work flexible hours to accommodate Committee of Adjustment evening meetings as required.
