The Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service is committed to enhancing the
quality of life for all Vaughan citizens. The Department serves
the public with a complement of 173 full-time and 36 volunteer fire
fighters, with a fleet of modern fire apparatus. Six fire stations
are strategically located throughout the City.
Businesses in Vaughan can rely on the Fire Prevention Division
to help them develop a comprehensive fire safety program and to
assist in all matters pertaining to the Fire Code. Fire Education

The City of Vaughan is served by the York Regional Police Force.
The mission of the York Regional Police is to serve the needs of
the community through the provision of crime prevention and protection
programs designed to promote partnerships with the community. The
police force has an overall strength of 874, comprised of 734 police
personnel and 140 civilians. The York Regional Police have five
police districts which service the Region, one of which is located
in the City of Vaughan.

Ambulance Services
Emergency Medical Services operates out of 18 Paramedic Response
Stations across York Region, three of which are located in the City
of Vaughan. It employs approximately 250 paramedics who provide
emergency response and non-emergency medical transportation services.
On January 1, 2000 the Region assumed full management responsibility
for ambulance services under the provisions and requirements of
the Ambulance Act. The Ministry of Health will continue to dispatch
ambulance and provide support through the York Region Base Hospital
program.
