Current Parking Permit Process

There are three types of parking permits available to Vaughan residents and visitors, described below.

1. Visitor Parking Permits

Residents can buy permits for their visitors to park on city streets. Applications are available online at any time; permits are electronic and do not need to be printed or displayed. If you are unable to use the online system, you can purchase a permit in-person at Vaughan City Hall, Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Permit conditions:

  • There is a fee of $7 per permit.
  • Permits are available for up to 10 consecutive days and up to 60 days per calendar year (i.e. Jan. 1 to Dec. 31).
  • Permits are non-transferable between licence plate numbers. Unused permit dates cannot be cancelled and reissued at a later time if the dates have already passed.
For which streets can I obtain a visitor parking permit?
  • To ensure your street can be accessed by emergency vehicles, visitor parking permits are available only on streets that are at least 8 m in width.

  • For a list of streets for which permits are available, view the following document or map.

  • If your street is not eligible for visitor parking permits, the online system will allow you to select a permit on another street and your visitor should park on the street for which the permit is issued.
For how many days should I obtain a visitor parking permit for my guest?
You should purchase a visitor parking permit for all of the days that your visitor will be parked. For example, if your visitor will be parking from Friday night to Saturday morning, you should obtain a two-day visitor parking pass that includes Friday and Saturday.

Apply online for a visitor parking permit.

2. Construction parking permits

Until the new changes come into effect, residents can request permission to park on the street when undertaking construction or renovation work on their private property. Permits are issued at no cost for a maximum of 30 days per calendar year.

Please note:
Permits are not transferable between licence plate numbers. Non-used permit dates cannot be cancelled and reissued at a later time if the dates have already passed.

How can I apply?
Applications are available in person at Vaughan City Hall, Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or online.  To ensure your parking permit can be issued in a timely manner, please apply at least three business days in advance of when it is needed.

For which streets can I obtain a construction parking permit?
You can obtain a construction permit for any Vaughan address, however to ensure your street can be accessed by emergency vehicles, you must only park your vehicle on streets that are at least 8 m in width, as listed in this document or map.

3. Monthly parking permits

How to apply to have your street considered for monthly parking permits

Vaughan residents on suitable streets can now submit an application for their street to be evaluated for on-street resident parking; learn more here.

Existing streets with monthly parking permits

There are currently five streets for which monthly parking permits are available in designated areas only:

  • Cidermill Avenue (valid Mondays through Fridays, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.)
  • Napa Valley Boulevard
  • Sharer Drive (valid Mondays through Fridays, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.)
  • Whitmore Drive (valid Mondays through Fridays, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.)
  • Woodstream Boulevard (valid Mondays through Fridays, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.)

Permits are available for purchase one week prior to the start of the next month and must be applied for in person at Vaughan City Hall, Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at a cost of $53 per month.

Please note: Permits purchased once the month has started are not pro-rated and are non-refundable, but are interchangeable as they are not issued to a particular vehicle/licence plate number.
