Set your garbage out in accordance to
the City's garbage collection program. Fines may be issued
for non compliance.
Collection day: Garbage is collected EVERY
OTHER WEEK on your regular collection day. Refer
to the Collection
Schedule to determine if your garbage will be collected
during a blue week
or a yellow week.
Once your have established when your garbage will be collected,
reference the collection Schedule/Reference Guide and follow
the corresponding colour throughout the schedule.
Collection time:
Place your waste at the curbside no earlier than 6:00
p.m. the day before collection and no later than 7:00 a.m.
the day of collection. The time of collection in your area
may change at any time without notice.
Placement of materials:
•
For easy identificaiton for the contractor, please have clear separation for each waste stream (i.e: leaf and yard, recycling etc.)
•
Ensure all materials placed out for collection are in accordance with the City's set out requirements.
•
Please place your collectible materials at the curbside for collection. Do not place collectible materials on the road, as it may pose a hazard to vehicular traffic.
•
Keep waste materials separate from your neighbours.
Winter placement of materials: SNOWBANKS: Please ensure your blue boxes, green bins and garbage items are at the curb (i.e. on or beside your driveway) on your designated collection day. Do not place your materials on top of or behind snowbanks as it can be difficult for collection crews to access, and may cause materials to spill onto the roadway. Material placed on snowbanks can be refused collection.
SET BACK FROM ROAD: During heavy snowfalls, garbage, blue boxes, and green bin materials must be set back from the curb approximately 0.9 metres (3 ft.) and placed on the right side of the driveway (the side that is on the right when facing the house). This set out requirement helps prevent waste materials from being knocked over or buried by snow ploughing operations.
Prepare garbage properly:
Drain and wrap wet waste to keep your garbage container clean
and to avoid attracting insects or animals.
Place waste in securely sealed garbage bags and/or rigid containers.
