It influences virtually all aspects of the City's operational and regulatory activities, including the growth management strategy. The plan establishes the principles of sustainability to be used in the development of other plans and master plans to achieve a healthy natural environment, vibrant communities and a strong economy.

A MESSAGE FROM VAUGHAN COUNCIL

Our Commitment to Environmental Stewardship

The responsibility of protecting and preserving our environment belongs to every person and every business. How we manage this important responsibility will have a direct impact on the health and prosperity of our community, today and in the future.

We believe municipal government can provide effective leadership on environmental issues by:
  • Delivering quality, environmentally-friendly services;
  • Ensuring municipal operations are energy efficient, and are undertaken in an environmentally responsible manner;
  • Preserving and enhancing significant natural areas;
  • Promoting the need for energy conservation to residents and businesses;
  • Establishing an efficient transportation network;
  • Working with other levels of government on environmental initiatives.
Our Vaughan Vision 2020 strategic plan promotes "a safe, livable and sustainable environment." Through innovation, dedication and new partnerships, we believe the goals of our environmental initiatives are achievable. Join us in our efforts to make Vaughan an environmental leader.
